If you’re a chocolate lover, you’ll love this. If you are a lover of grown up chocolate toppings, you’ll really love this. If you love spreadable, edible, unusually flavored chocolate, well, then this is the one for you!

An incredibly thick, rich, chocolatey topping with pear and Cabernet grape juice. The look is deep, rich, thick chocolate and the heady aroma is chocolate and rich wine.

The suggestions are to serve it over ice cream or heat it and pour it over poached pears, but I can’t get past just licking it off a spoon. The owner slathers it as a frosting on cupcakes and uses it in brownies, but I’m still doing a pure taste test from a spoon. I know it would be divine as a dessert fondue, and dipped into biscotti, but somehow, I just can’t stand the thought of letting other foods and flavors get in the way of this incredible chocolate and Cabernet combination.

There are four main ingredients that make up this wonderful chocolate confection: premium Guittard semi sweet chocolate (sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, dextrose, lecithin), Cabernet grape juice, organic agave nectar and natural pear nectar. The instructions say to stir the contents, but the consistency of the chocolate in my jar is so thick, the spoon stands straight up in it…that’s when the spoon isn’t in my mouth!

The label is simple and elegant and the creamy color is a nice contrast to the dark chocolate. Anyone would be impressed to receive this as a gift. It looks so great…all that chocolate just waiting to be tasted and appreciated, that you don’t need to wrap it, just present it with a spoon. For those that have tasted this once, you might not be able to bear giving it away. It’s that good, and unusual!

I have tasted this topping so often the jar is almost empty. You might want to get two of these: one for impulse spoon dipping and the other to use in all the creative ways mentioned above. This is a very sophisticated, distinctive flavor for anyone who loves chocolate.
