Smoky Onion Dip and Dressing Mix Vermont Harvest
Have you ever camped outside and cooked over an open fire? Have you stood or driven nearby and smelled that rich, smoky smell? Open this jar and you are transported back to any of those outdoor moments. The aroma is rich and smoky and the flavor is rich, herbal and smoky.
The ingredients are dehydrated onions, parsley, chives, garlic, smoke powder (barley malt flour which contains gluten and natural hickory smoke flavor. This 2-ounce jar can be used in dozens of ways, each giving you ‘I want more’ results.
The creator suggests making a dip or a salad dressing out of this dry mix. Absolutely! Add organic olive oil, sour cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, homemade mayonnaise, any variety of vinegar and dip and dress to your heart’s content. Put the dip or dressing over potatoes, pasta, chicken, salads and dunk crackers, cheese, pieces of beef or vegetable in it. Wow! The smoky, herbal flavor complements so many other foods!
We put this in a large plastic bag, added some organic olive oil and let it marinate chicken, beef and salmon for several hours in the refrigerator. Then, we put the meat on the grill and flipped over how incredibly well it flavored each of the meats. We also mixed it with fresh organic sour cream and dipped fresh vegetables from the garden in it!
Try this dehydrated herbal mixture with sundried tomatoes, grilled mushrooms and Parmesan cheese over your favorite pasta drizzled with a great olive oil. Sprinkle this over the cheese on homemade pizza before you pop it in the oven. Stuff pasta or peppers with cheese and meat that has been seasoned with this. Put this in your favorite hot artichoke dip to Zing it up and add this to one of your sauces for fondue. Flavor a taco sauce with this and also add it to cheese sauce for great smokin’ macaroni and cheese! In other words, use this super flavorful and adaptable mixture a lot and in many, many ways…and enjoy every bite!
If you like the taste that is reminiscent of campfires – smoky and rich, then you will LOVE this seasoning! We’re still thinking up ways to use it…’cause it’s Pure Zing! This is now a staple on our cupboard shelf….it’s that versatile and that good!
