Over the years, we have read about chicle, but never before had we knowingly experienced it. Chicle was first used as a chewing gum by the Mayans and this ancient tradition has been revived by Verve, Inc. in their Glee Gum. No synthetic gums, no artificial colors, sweeteners, flavors or preservatives, this is gum in its most natural and healthy form!

Chicle has a great chew to it! Our team thinks that it actually has more bounce than synthetic gum and the flavor is bright and vibrant with natural ingredients. Rather than using corn syrup, this gum uses rice syrup, natural flavorings and colorings, pure cane sugar and chicle which is harvested from Sapodilla trees in the rain forests of Central America. We tested the Spearmint flavor and found it rich and minty. The flavor lasted a long, long time, and when the flavor finally faded away, the remaining gum did not taste yucky as some synthetic gums do. We haven’t tried the other flavors of Tangerine, Peppermint, Cinnamon, Bubblegum or Triple Berry, but imagine that their flavor and chew would be just as Zingy and long-lasting as the Spearmint.

Did you notice that this gum does NOT use artificial sweeteners? Good for them! In fact, they are so adamant against artificial sweeteners (like us!) that they have this to say about them: Glee Gum does not contain artificial sweeteners like aspartame, because we believe they can cause negative side effects.
