Flawless perfect looking skin with a no make-up, make up look. Sheer and natural, yet still gives good coverage. Lots of compliments.

The PureZing team was asked to speak during Oscar Week 2014 (which is where we discovered Veil Fluid Make-Up) about the benefits of an organic lifestyle and the importance of a toxin free home. We zeroed on Phthalates (a softening agent to make things bend, which is used in shower curtains, toys, shaker bottles, rugs and cosmetics) and Triclosan (a pesticide used as a preservative and anti-bacterial agent in deodorants, cleansers, trash bags, mattresses), which was first registered with the EPA in 1969 as a pesticide and still is.

Phthalates are used in cosmetics because they cling to the skin and nails to give perfumes, hair gels and polish remover more staying power. And in a foundation, the Phthalate is what gives the foundation it long lasting power. Triclosan is mainly used as a preservative in cosmetics. Why don’t we want Phthalates? Well, Phthalates are endocrine (hormone) disruptors meaning they interfere with normal brain function. Phthalates also send signals in the body that could result in weight gain, diabetes, Autism, Breast Cancer, Testicular cancer and reduction in sperm counts. That’s why we don’t want Phthalates. The problem is most foundations have Phthalates in it. And the problem with Triclosan? Besides being a hormone disruptor, Triclosan negatively affects muscle function, especially your heart. YIKES!

We know how hard it is to find any cosmetics that fit into your natural lifestyle that are GMO free that do not contain any toxic elements. For this reason all of us at PureZing had to put the foundation to the test.

The end result? We loved how the Veil Foundation made our skin look and feel. Flawless like that of a young child; like we were not wearing any make-up. Our skin felt clean unlike other foundations which have made the skin feel tight, pulled and un-natural. No itchy, no blotching. It went on evenly and stayed in place. It also felt good knowing there was no Phthalates nor Triclosan in the formulation and that the foundation was actually good for our skin.

What it does, what it has, what makes Veil Fluid Make-Up different:

The Vegan formulation is Phthalate and Triclosan free and made without mineral oil, contains no parabens, no sulfates, and no synthetic fragrances. It has a physical SPF 15 UVA/UVB sunscreen, plus anti-aging ingredients that make your skin look younger. We were so blown away by the product we phoned the company to get more information: Synthetic dye free, GMO free, triclosan free, petrochemical free, nano particle free, talc free, soy free, corn free, sugar free, mercury free, urea free, BHA and BHT free.

This means good for all of us.

Lightweight, yet buildable coverage. You can use a little; you can use a lot depending upon your coverage needs and still get a natural, un made up look. Veil is long wearing, so there is no need to touch up during the day. And remember, a little goes a long way! (All I used was one pump).

Another great benefit is the anti-aging properties built in to the foundation. The formulation contains a three percent Matrixyl® Synthe'6™ to support the body's natural ability to produce collagen and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It also contains Skin Tightener ST™ PH to improve the skin's texture and promote a younger-looking complexion.

Eleven shades to choose from ranging from porcelain to walnut.

PROS:

  • Lots. A little goes a long way. Bottle can last up to 3 months. What’s not in the formulation (all the bad stuff) plus the Anti-Aging ingredients built into the foundation. LOTS OF COMPLIMENTS, even from the sales team at Sephora, asking us what foundation we were wearing because our skin looked so good! (One of our best satisfactions yet!)
  • Vegan.
  • Formulated with no mineral oil, yet leaves a silky soft feel to the skin.
  • Non GMO, No parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, or phthalates.

CONS:

  • Expensive. $60 at Hourglass Cosmetics, $70 at Sephora.
  • The formulation is not 100% organic and some of the actives are not nature based. However, considering everything that Hourglass Cosmetics is doing right and by what they are putting IN the foundation as well as keeping out, we decided to lay it all out, and let you decide what is best for you.
