Starting with a coffee roasting business in 1991, Richard and Arlene Karno have been serving fine coffee to the Venice, California region for over a decade. In 2005, the Karnos wondered if they could make a truly transportable package for gourmet bean seekers whose GPS coordinates are too far from an accessible barrista. Voila Java Juice!

The innovation in Java Juice is combining extremely fine quality Arabica with a time-honored technology in the traditional coffee extraction process– all inside a highly “Samsonite” ruggedized packet.

The company has adopted highly sustainable start-to-finish business practices, including Fair Trade Coffee, Relationship Coffee, recycling of grounds into biomass for local utility electricity production, recyclable packaging and much more. The product is recently available through REI’s outdoor stores and will soon be in Whole Foods Market as well.
