Spicy Southwestern Soup North Bay Trading Co.
YeeHaw! Hold onto your Stetson, this soup has the tiniest kick of a mule! A few green chili peppers, a little bit of green Jalapeno and a whole lot of beans and this soup will have your boots stompin’! Don’t get us wrong, smoke won’t come out of your mouth, but this is the only soup made by this supplier that has something other than just beans, pasta and ordinary vegetables….this one has ‘spice’ in the form of chilies.
Now if you like hot, all you’re going to need to do is add more chilies and maybe toss in some chili powder and cayenne. For those of us with more timid palates, all we might do is add meat, or tomato paste and some spices of our choice. Spicy or timid though, this soup is adaptable to any palate and taste based on the ingredients that you add to it.
That’s what’s great about this soup: they supply all the basics, and you add the dash and flair that make the results uniquely yours. What are the basics? The beans in this soup are: black beans, lima, Christmas limas, Tongues of Fire beans, small reds, black turtle, red kidney, small white, pinks, garbanzos, navy, green and yellow, split pea, great northern, pinto and lentils. The dehydrated vegetables in this soup are: whole kernel sweet corn, green jalapenos, red and green bell peppers and green chili peppers.
No spices are added. The word ‘spicy’ on the label comes solely from the chilies, but feel free to do as we did and ramp up the depth of flavor with regular or spicy grilled sausage slices, lime juice, lots of fresh cilantro, and a dollop of real sour cream to cool it all down. Reduce the cooking liquid and you have a ready-made, super healthy and hearty taco or stuffed green pepper filling.
This soup is easy to make: one part soup to five parts water or, you may want to try organic vegetable, chicken or beef broth. Bring to a boil, and then strongly simmer for 60-90 minutes. Add the ingredients of your choice….and soups on! One cup of the soup mix makes seven whole cups of soup, so this is an amaZingly economical soup as all you might need at one time is ½ cup of soup mix. Each time you use some of the mix, you can add totally different types of ingredients, which is not something that you can easily do with a can of soup.
Give this boot stompin’ soup a try! Every one of our team members gave it a big thumbs up for flavor, healthy ingredients, ease of preparation and super versatility. You’ll love it…its Pure Zing!
