Garlic and Lemon Olives Mustapha's
Light green olives that are mild and separate from the pit easily give a subtle garlic taste that progresses to a perfect lemon flavor. The olive taste is first, then the garlic, and then a suggestion of lemon. It’s an amazingly understated flavor and is a terrific complement to fish, meat or cheese.
The ingredients are simple: green olives, garlic, lemon oil, bay leaf, water, salt, fine herbs and citric acid. Slices of lemon and several whole garlic cloves are also present in the 10-ounce hex jar with the charming Moroccan tile design of the black, yellow and bronze colored label. No preservatives to keep the olives a false, bright color. No preservatives or chemicals to keep the olives crunchy crisp: these olives melt in your mouth with subtle flavor and texture.
The brine is fragrant with the whole garlic cloves, olives and lemon slices and the jar is stuffed to the top with unblemished olives from the remote Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Simple, wonderful and unusual, this is my new favorite olive. Imported from Morocco, these gourmet olives are the real thing!
