Mate Chocolatte Tea Bags
Here is just a sampling of some of the words that describe this product: • Sustainably harvested below the rainforest canopy Those are pretty impressive words for a product in a tea bag, but this is not an ordinary tea. Yerba Mate has been known for centuries in South America as the ‘drink of the gods’ as its health benefits are amazing. The dried leaves of the rainforest Yerba Mate tree contain 24 vitamins and minerals, 15 amino acids, antioxidants and natural caffeine. What should go with the ‘drink of the gods’? Chocolate, called the ‘food of the gods’ is a terrific complement to the subtle smoky flavor of the tea. This particular blend contains organic Yerba Mate leaf, organic cocoa seed, organic nutmeg, organic cinnamon, organic Stevia and organic clove seed. The flavor is rich in complexity, but has the lightness associated with tea. This does not come across as chocolate milk: we added the recommended milk and sweetener and found the flavor to be sophisticated and with just a hint of chocolate. This flavor is available as loose tea, in bulk tea bags, or in the ‘Rainbow’ pack of all the other flavors. The rainbow pack has boxes of 16 individually wrapped tea bags in a 100% recycled paper box. Inside the box is the description of how the Yerba Mate leaf is flash heated to preserve the antioxidants and nutritional properties and then wood dried at a low temperature for 24 hours. The last step is to aging the leaves for one year in cedar chambers. The final product is slightly smoky tasting, with a pleasing, rich and earthy flavor. This beverage can be enjoyed hot or cold and imparts a subtle energy and sense of well-being. The natural caffeine of this tea is tempered by the nutritional qualities and benefits and even our caffeine sensitive team member does not get caffeine jitters from this product. If you want a ‘pick me up’ that is actually good for you, this is a great choice. Have it over ice in the summer, or hot in the winter. Either way, we believe that you will like the flavor as well as the health benefits that this unusual tea has to offer.
